This turkey pom pom craft is a cute little project that can be made in no time flat! Just a simple pom pom and some cute little felt feathers! Try using this to decorate for Thanksgiving or even one at each place setting for the big feast too!

Materials:
- Brown or tan yarn for the turkey pom pom body (I used #4 worsted weigh acrylic yarn, but you can use other types of yarn too)
- Felt scraps for feathers and beak (I used green, orange, yellow, red, and brown)
- Optional: you can instead use a red and a yellow bead for the beak/wattle too.
- Scissors
- 2 eyes
- Hot glue (or craft glue)
Sizing:
- Turkey is about 4 inches tall (including feathers)
Project Notes:
- There are 2 options for the turkey’s beak/wattle. You can make it out of felt or out of beads too! See below for instructions for both.
Turkey Pom Pom Body:
- Cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long and set aside.
- Wrap yarn around all 4 fingers of your hand to make a thick bundle (I did about 160 wraps around my hand)
- Carefully slip your hand out of the bundle and set down.
- Tie yarn around the entire bundle very tightly.
- Optional: you add a drop of glue to “lock” it into place if you want.
- Holding the two strands you just tied, cut all of the loops.
- Snip yarn ends neatly to make a smooth round ball shape.
- If you want to tie the turkey onto something, leave the two yarn ties. If not, you can snip them off.
Feathers:
- Cut 5 feather shapes as shown with 5 different felt colors (to make the feather shape, I cut two curved lines on either side for the feather shape)
- Carefully pull the pom pom apart a little and glue feathers in a line, be sure they are fanned out a bit.
- Let the glue cool/dry.
Turkey Face:
- Glue two eyes to the front as shown.
- Beak/Wattle option 1: glue a yellow bead vertically for the beak and a red bead horizontally for the wattle (see photo below)
- Beak/Wattle option 2: Cut a small triangle out of yellow felt and glue below the eyes. Cute a small “L” shape out of red felt and glue so it sort of wraps around the beak. See photo for this below too.
