Materials:
- Yarn of your choice (for best results start with a smooth strand of a medium weight yarn if you are a beginner, anything novelty, textured, embellished, or anything too fine/heavy might make it more difficult if you are just learning this technique)
- 2 Double pointed needles (DPNs) in the recommended needle size (see yarn label) for your yarn.
- Yarn/tapestry needle
- Scissors

How To Knit An I-Cord:
- Cast on 3 stitches.
- Knit the first row.
- Next, instead of turning your needle over as you normally would and pass the needle to the other hand, slide your work down to the other end.
- So, you’ll start with it looking like this:

- And after you slide it across it will be at the other end of the needle like this:

- Repeat for every row in this manner, knitting a row, sliding it across, knitting a row, sliding it across and so forth until the I-cord is as long as you want it to be!
- When you’re finished, bind off all stitches.
- If you want to tie it to something, leave the tails intact. If not, weave in the tails at either end with a tapestry needle. You can just weave it through the middle of the cord, then snip off the excess tail.
