Materials:

  • Colorful yarn (you can use any yarn you like, I used worsted weight yarn#4 weight yarn in orange, aqua, and pink)

Instructions:

  • Cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long.
  • Set aside.
  • Wrap yarn around all four fingers to make a large bundle (I wrapped it about 150 times).
  • Cut yarn leaving a tail and careful slide the bundle off of your fingers.
  • Lay the cut piece of yarn out on a flat surface.
  • Place the bundle in the center of the piece of yarn then tie the ends tightly.
  • Cut all loops (except the one holding it together).
  • Using scissors shape the yarn into a 3-D egg shape–more rounded bottom with a tapered top.
  • Start with the general shape then gradually work your way inwards making smaller more precise cuts.
  • As you trim, be sure to fluff the pom pom every now and then to ensure there are no long pieces of yarn popping out.
  • Use as is or add a loop if you want to hang it up!
