Combine your love of literature and fall with this super cute book page pumpkin craft! Just some simple materials needed and a great way to recycle an old book too! I used a damaged book that was missing pages, so it was a great way to repurpose it into something beautiful again! This pumpkin is a perfect little addition to your autumn decor and is a great fall activity too!

Project Notes:

  • Don’t have a book to use the pages from? Try using newspaper, magazine pages, or even small bits of discarded paper!
  • Experiment with different stems and ribbons for a variety of effects!

Instructions:

  • Begin by removing the pumpkin stem or covering it so that it does not get any Mod Podge on it.
  • Tear several book pages into small pieces.
  • Place the pumpkin on a small paper plate to keep it neat and from sticking to anything as it dries.
  • Brush the top part of the pumpkin with a thin layer of Mod Podge. Note: Leave the bottom part alone for now, we’ll do the bottom later after the top dries. This will keep it from sticking to your surface, plus it will make it way less messy.
  • Place a paper piece on the Mod Podge coated pumpkin. Brush more Mod Podge over the top of the paper piece.
  • Repeat, covering the whole top of the pumpkin, leaving the bottom uncovered.
  • Let dry overnight.
  • When completely dry, flip the pumpkin over and repeat for the bottom of the pumpkin with the rest of the paper pieces.
  • Let dry overnight.
  • After everything is completely dry, re-punch hole in the top of the pumpkin where the stem was (it will be covered with the paper layers). You can use a yarn needle, pen, pencil, or scissors to do this. It will punch through very easily through the paper layers.
  • Glue the stem back on and let dry.
  • Tie a piece of ribbon around the stem for some added texture and a finished look.
