Pattern Notes:

  • Any type of paper clip is ok for this project, I used colorful paper clips for the ones shown for an added pop of fun color!
  • Experiment with different yarn colors, metallics, or even glitter yarn for lots of options. This is a great scrap yarn project!
  • For a cute gift idea, try clipping one onto a card, pretty paper or even a book you are gifting!
Crochet Heart Bookmarks

Instructions to make crochet heart bookmarks:

  • Chain 4, then join with a slip stitch into the furthest chain from your hook to make a ring. (Note: I held my tail along the edge as I worked the stitches in the next part to help weave in the tail as I went)
  • Into the center of the ring, work (dc, tr, dc), then a slip stitch, then (dc, tr, dc). Next, still working into the center of the ring, work (3 sc, tr, then 3 sc).
  • Join into the first stitch worked with s slip stitch to close the round.
  • Weave in and trim any tails that remain and move onto the next section for bookmark assembly.

Assembly:

  • Shape up the heart as needed. It can become a bit misshapen as you crochet and weave in the tails as you’re moving it all around. I like to kind of pinch the bottom part to get that heart point nice and sharp, plus shape up the rounded top parts up too.
  • Flip the heart over so that the back is facing up. Not sure which side is the front and back? The side that faced you while you crocheted is the front. They look slightly different. Also, refer the photos as well for reference.
  • Glue a paper clip to the heart with glue of your choice. Be sure the “clip” part is facing downward so that it can clip onto something and that it is not upside down before gluing.
  • While the glue is wet be sure to position the paper clip so that it is straight, then support the paper clip from underneath until glue had dried. I slid my crochet hook underneath, but you can use whatever you have on hand.
  • Let dry completely before using, and you’re done!
